I would like to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! I hope you had a relaxing summer break. We are happy to be back and anxious to start the new school year. The staff at San Jacinto Elementary is looking forward to working together to provide the best learning opportunities for your children.
We have been working hard to get everything ready! SJE is excited on its candidacy to become an International Baccalaureate school! “The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. These programmes encourage students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.” We also continue to implement PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Program). It has helped us create a SAFE school through positive discipline!
Please be sure your child arrives every day to school on time. I am proud to share that our District will now be providing FREE breakfast and lunch for ALL students! School starts at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. for grades 1-5. Kindergarten starts at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 2:15 p.m.
Every Friday will continue to be a minimum day. This will allow teachers more time to collaborate and focus on our students’ needs. Starting Friday, August 10, 2018, we will begin our minimum days. Student dismissal will be at 1:35 p.m. except for kindergarten. Their dismissal will continue to be at 12:25 p.m. every Friday.
Attached you will find a packet of very important information. The San Jacinto Elementary Parent and Student Handbook provides general information about transportation, insurance, school breakfast and lunch programs, discipline policies, important dates and a school calendar. After you have completed and signed the required documents, please return the items to your child’s teacher the following day so that we can update all of our students’ information immediately.
My responsibility as your Principal is to ensure your child is provided with a learning environment that is safe and promotes positive character building. The staff and I strongly believe in a school and home partnership. We encourage you to actively participate in the education of your child. By working together, staff and parents will teach children how to: get along better at home and school; succeed in school, and be more self-directed in life.
We hope everyone’s year is, above all, educational as well as exciting and fun. Remember. . .”It’s good to be here, it’s GREAT to be here!”
